Do I have to switch carriers to use a 623 number?

No. The 623 number transfers onto whatever line you already pay for — AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Google Voice, Visible, or any major US carrier. The transfer is a port-in onto your existing account; you do not change your bill, your plan or your handset.

Are there ongoing fees on a Digit Exclusive 623 number?

No. Each number is a single one-time purchase. After you receive the transfer kit and port it to your carrier, the only ongoing cost is whatever your carrier already charges you for that line. There is no Digit Exclusive monthly fee, subscription, or vanity-number rental — buy once, own permanently.

How long does the port take?

Typical 623 port-ins complete in 24–48 hours after you submit the transfer kit to your destination carrier. Wireline ports sometimes take 3–5 business days; the timing is controlled by the carrier, not by Digit Exclusive.
